Not only is Houzz.com the leading online platform for home remodeling and design, it’s the perfect place to turn for inspiration for your next project.

Of course, interior designers like ourselves love the platform because it has the largest residential design database in the world. It’s the perfect way to find inspiration, get advice, buy products and hire professionals (like us!).

Houzz recently announced the community’s picks for Best Of Houzz 2015, a homeowner-to-homeowner guide to the top home builders, architects, interior designers, landscape pros and other residential remodeling professionals. And we couldn’t be more proud that we were included on that coveted list.

Here’s how it works:

“Houzz connects people with the best home professional for their project by providing the only 360-degree view of a professional, from their portfolio, client reviews, awards and accreditations to their work style and expertise based on their participation in the Houzz community,” said Liza Hausman, vice president of Industry Marketing for Houzz in a statement. “We’re delighted to join our community in recognizing the talented professionals on Houzz who are delivering incredible designs and delightful customer experiences.”

The Best Of Houzz award is given in two categories: Customer Service and Design. Customer Service honors are determined by a variety of factors, including the number and quality of client reviews a professional received in 2014. Design award winners’ work was the most popular among the more than 25 million monthly users on Houzz, known as “Houzzers,” Winners will receive a “Best Of Houzz 2015” badge on their profiles, showing the Houzz community their commitment to excellence. Leave a reply

Nothing says sophistication like bold lines and sleek neutrals. Peek inside our latest project at Midtown Miami Residences, located in a vibrant neighborhood where modern architecture intersects with local culture.

Midtown-Miami-Residences-1

This self-contained urban community sits on 55 acres in the Biscayne Corridor, just west of Biscayne Bay. Defined by it’s architecture — intersecting spaces and cantilevered walls — the residential building is surrounded by a bustling neighborhood full of restaurants, boutiques and art galleries.

We infused a combination of refined elegance with a modern feel to both the interiors and exteriors of this urban chic condominium project — a welcome renovation for the building’s current roster of young professional owners and tenants.

Tour 7 Rooms Featuring Luxe Industrial Design

Think exposed brick, steel beams and mechanical design elements. On their own, these turn-of-the-century items may not sound that glamorous. But mix the rustic elements alongside luxurious finishes and textures and you’ll instantly love the luxe industrial vibe.

1. Chicago Living Room: The soaring ceiling and steel beams create the perfect backdrop for the floor-to-ceiling windows and cozy-meets-modern fireplace.

2. Portland Kitchen: Notice the clean white subway tile mixed with the vintage wood table and unique chandelier.

3. Southern Dining Room: From the exposed beams, to the industrial lighting and the reclaimed wood to the clear glass table, this dining room exudes a mechanical, but luxurious feel.

4. East Coast Kitchen: The layers of lights and clean lines combine with the smooth marble to create a symmetrical, but rustic design.

5. Houston Family Room: Another example of exposed brick and unfinished ceilings combined with soft details like the white shag rug.

6. West Coast Kitchen: The light colored floors and white flowing curtains contrast sharply to the stainless steel appliances and minimal lighting fixtures.

7. London Kitchen: Notice the juxtaposition of the red exposed brick on one wall and the white subway tile on the opposite wall.

7 Ways To Use Vintage Barn Doors in Your Interior Design

We’ve found that mixing antique barn wood panels with contemporary design elements infuses a sense of vintage glam into a space.

Here are seven ways it can be done…

1. Bathroom Entrance: Here we designed the entrance to our client’s master bath using a reclaimed barn wood door set on a slider. Notice the contrast between the rustic accents and bright white tile in the bathroom.

2. Bookcase Cover: Use a sliding barn door to cover part of a bookcase and instantly create a new look.

3. Kitchen Door: A modern kitchen turns eclectic with the addition of the vintage barn door and the brick wall.

4. Kitchen Table: Instead of using it as a door, turn it into a kitchen table.

5. Kitchen Island: or build an island and add an antique feel to the entire space.

6. Cabinets and Walls: If you can score enough reclaimed barn wood and give it a white-washed finish, use it for cabinets or even the entire wall.

7. The Whole Shebang: Except for the countertops and stainless steel appliances, nearly every surface in this kitchen features reclaimed wood.

Kundalini Lighting at Midblock Residences in Midtown

Kundalini midblock-Residences03 imageThis week we are taking you inside the lobby project we completed at Midblock Residences in Midtown Miami. The project was recently featured on the Kundalini Italian lighting company website, so let’s take a closer look at the elements of the design.

Kundalini midblock-Residences01 imageLighting choices can help determine the look and feel of a space, and it’s important to find the right balance of style and functionality. In this elevator entryway, we used several SHAKTI SKY suspension lamps by Kundalini lighting. The lamps feature diffusers in laser cut Plexiglas, inserted in a polished steel ring, and they all point to the back wall, highlighting an Alex Turco art panel.

Kundalini midblock-Residences02 imageThe funky lighting and the colorful art panel work together with the metal elevator doors and the mirrored walls to create a truly contemporary feel.
